Twitter didn't really catch my attention, and I have been super busy ever since that assignment started. I guess what I would take away from it would be that twitter is a great tool for connecting people throughout the world. I went to this website http://www.balkhis.com/twitter/25-reasons-why-someone-should-join-twitter/ and the reasons were very valuable. None of my close friends use twitter, and I just couldn't get into it. All the sources of information on there are very helpful, but I just prefer google, to searching twitter for information. My link is @dgaudi. Twitter is what it is, and I could live perfectly find without it. I would have rather not had this an assignment. Twitter is for some people, and I am not one of them. Maybe if I would have had more time I would have learned more from it, but to be honest I didn't learn much.

Diversity Event
I went to NWC which was a pretty comical play write that depicted stereotypes and diversity as funny yet serious. The diversity of the crowd more than represented the great diversity that exists here at ISU. Though there were many different races, everyone could laugh at the jokes made, and understand the message of the event.
One cool aspect of the play was how each actor related childhood events to explain how their diversity affected them. The actors even stayed after and had discussion groups which was another thing that made the play stand out. This wouldn't have been a good play for the family and kids, but was perfect for a target audience of college students. Everyone had consecutive moments of shared laughter with the rest of the audience.
Overall the event was a cool experience that I will remember when I look back on my freshman year. Although they could have had a white person in there to make it NWCC, because reverse racism does happen. Maybe I'll try out for the part! I would recommend it to anyone who has the chance to attend.

At My Best
A time in my life where I would consider to have been "at my best" would have to have been the time I spent my senior year in high school searching and filling out scholarship applications. I was able to dedicate a whole ninety minute study hall class to nothing but scholarships.
The benefit of this class will be one that will continue to impact my years at ISU, and most importantly the rest of my life after college. I, like other students at ISU, come from a family of low income, and have a zero family contribution. This was all the more inspiration for me to seek any and all scholarships that I was eligible for.
I can vividly recall the ISU packet that I received in the mail that had the Christina Hixson sticker logo on it. It was a week night and I was doing statistics homework when I looked on top of the TV (where my mom puts all the mail addressed to me), and there happened to be a substantial white packet there. When I began to read the letter addressed to yours truly, words couldn't begin to describe my reaction. I let my family read it, and of course my mom cried, and my dad shook my hand and told me nothing in the world has made him more proud. At that moment I was truly at my best, at that moment I knew I had acquired a prestigious tool that could only aid me on my road in college.
Getting back to the class that in the end is the root cause of me writing this blog, and overall the reason for my scholarship and financial aid opportunities; I spent hours surfing Iowa State websites, FAFSA websites, and other scholarship program websites. And when I did find ones that applied to me, I went through cognitive application processes where I looked introspectively for traits that distinguished me from the next scholarly student applying for this award. My high school career outlines a time in my life where I founded morals on being aware whether it be politically, socially, economically, and most importantly being aware of the human carbon footprint and the impact it has on the earth. High school was the best four years of my life. I learned who I was and what it takes to succeed.
So in the end my decision to dedicate a study hall strictly to scholarships is one I am glad I made. Because of that class I received scholarships from Iowa state scholarship foundations, some from my high school scholarship foundation, one from Wal-Mart and ACT scholarship foundation, but what seemed to help the most was the money I received from FAFSA. The day the FAFSA opened was the day I filled it out in that class, and I didn't just forget about it either. I always paid attention to the details that go along with all the paperwork because it always requires corrections.
Now halfway through my first semester of college, I completely feel as if the time I invested in that study hall was a time where I was truly at my best. The benefits of that investment are only going to be appreciated more and more as I work toward walking across that stage in the spring of 2014. I wouldn't know how to describe how much I appreciate the aid I received from the foundations, all I know is I won't let their investment go to waste.

A Mindset of A 2014 Graduate
The purpose of the Beloit College Mindset list articles is to prepare a list of "cultural touchstones" that was originally in an effort to show faculty members how quickly worldviews of each generation was changing. Today the article entices over 400,000 hits annually on Facebook. As far as the content of each year's article, the accuracy is really at the reader's discretion, and because of diversity, economic factors, social factors, global factors, and personal experience, the reactions to the viewpoints will differ from graduate to graduate.
What I first noticed after reading the article entirely was the points it made on subjects that many graduates of 2014 have no personal connection to, or in some cases no opinion on or care for. For instance the comment about Walmart selling handguns over the counter, and also about Honda always being a major competitor on Memorial Day at Indianapolis. This list just seems as if it was compiled by people born prior to the eighties that are trying to understand what my generation thinks about the world, and it's issues.I know its hard to assemble and basically guess on seventy five world wide accepted opinions, but that is why we have mass testing.
My response to this article is that it seems to lack the appeal and foundation that would make it accepted by me based off of my personal experience with the world economically, socially, and globally. They mention hundreds of channels on cable, but a routine of having nothing to watch. If they had put something about MTV not playing music videos on it like it use too, then it would have applied better to my experience. The point that said when our parents complained about Black Monday, we thought they were complaining about punk rockers from L.A suggests that our class doesn't care about our economic situations, and crisis. The toothpaste tube standing on the cap seems completely random, and the other points made like this one just hurt the accuracy and appeal of this list.
Overall my opinion on this list of broad opinions would have to be a negative outlook on the accuracy of the list as a whole. Like I said before the opinions will defer based on experiences in the world, but in my experience of eighteen years, two months, and twenty days on this earth I feel like this list inaccurately depicts my worldview and mindset on the topics they presented in the list.
